Loft design for Punjab weather — ventilation, heat and rain

A loft here has to survive 45°C in June and standing water in monsoon. Most of the designs online were drawn for Belgium.

What seems to matter is airflow that does not blow directly across perched birds, enough height for heat to rise away from them, a roof that is not an oven, a floor that stays dry and can be scraped, and keeping rats, cats and snakes out. Damp plus crowding is where nearly all loft disease starts, so ventilation is a health question rather than a comfort one.

Chhat: tin, lekin neeche 1 inch thermopol aur us pe plywood. Bahar se safed paint. Is se andar ka temperature 6-8 degree kam ho gaya, maine thermometer se check kiya hai.

Farsh: pakka, hamwar, thora dhalwan taake paani khud nikal jaye. Deep litter mat rakho, humidity me woh coccidiosis ki factory hai. Roz scrape, hafte me ek baar chuna.

Barish: chhat 18 inch bahar nikli hui hai har taraf. Warna monsoon me barish jaali ke andar aati hai aur farsh geela rehta hai.

Chuhe aur billiyan: farsh ke neeche jaali daali hai concrete me, aur darwaze pe do stage ka system — pehle chhota sehan, phir loft. Saanp ke liye deewar ke saath koi cheez rakhi hi nahi jaati jis pe woh charh sake.

Agar dobara banaunga to: aur zyada bara banaunga aur usi tadaad ke birds rakhunga.

Safed paint aur thermopol ka combination sab ko karna chahiye. Chand hazar rupay me pura mausam badal jata hai.

The "crowding is the actual disease" point applies to every species and it is the hardest one to get people to accept, because the fix is fewer animals and nobody wants to hear that.
