Canker, coccidiosis and one-eye cold — your loft's medicine routine

Every loft deals with the same short list, and almost everyone follows a routine they were taught rather than one a vet designed.

The part worth arguing about is calendar dosing — medicating whether or not the birds are ill. That is exactly how resistance builds, so the drug stops working in the year you actually need it.

What do you give, how often, and do you treat preventively or only on symptoms? And has anyone here found a vet who genuinely knows pigeons?

Main ab sirf symptoms pe treat karta hoon. Pehle har mahine calendar ke hisaab se dawai deta tha aur 2022 me aisa canker aaya jo kisi dawai se theek hi nahi ho raha tha. Wohi resistance thi jis ki baat aap kar rahe hain.

Ab: quarantine sakht, loft sukha, bheer kam, aur dawai sirf jab zaroorat ho. Teen saal se behtar hai.

On finding a vet who knows pigeons — I have not, and I have looked. The nearest thing I have found is asking older fanciers, which is exactly the closed-loop problem your post describes. This is a genuine gap.
